Decisions, Decisions, Decisions

I think when it came to planning my wedding, I (and my hubby) were overwhelmed by all the decisions we had to make. The decision to have a Disney wedding was very easy for us...but after that? We were literally left with hundreds of decisions. We changed our minds on things like location, color...even my dress more times than I can remember.  I can only imagine what would have happened if we had Pinterest!! Here are a few things you should keep in mind when planning your Walt Disney World Wedding.

Cost
The amount of money we'd pay to have a Disney wedding, would be the same amount we'd spend on a wedding back home. Albeit there would be less people at our Disney wedding but that's what I loved!  I didn't want to spend our entire reception walking from table to table thanking everyone, while missing out on the party we spent so long looking forward too. Having a Disney Wedding meant we got to enjoy our reception with our guests. We had about 35 people decide to come and while I wish a few more close family members had joined us, the ones that did come had a blast! Be sure to find a package that fits your budget and works with the amount of people you are inviting.

Location
I think this started off being the hardest part.  Disney has so many amazing locations and we would spend hours pouring over Disney Bride wedding reports checking out the various locations. I think ultimately we changed our location at least 3 separate times.  Ultimately it came down to this for us...we were having a Disney wedding. We didn't want a location that looked like a ballroom (which we could have had at home). We wanted something unique that screamed Disney!  For us that was Disney's Wedding Pavilion with the Magic Kingdom in the background.  My husband finally said to me one day during the planning, "When I close my eyes and picture us getting married, it's at the Wedding Pavilion". Be sure to take your time and explore all the locations Disney has to offer.  Be sure that it not only works logistically but speaks to you as a couple. Disney weddings are extraordinary and unique...make yours special!

Wedding Dress
Every time I watch a show like Say Yes To The Dress I hear women talk about the moment they KNEW it was THE dress. I didn't have that moment. To this day I wonder if picked the right dress. With so many hundreds of styles to choose from and different price points, it still seems nearly impossible to choose just one. Maybe I'm just obsessed with wedding dresses, but I still have fun searching through David Bridal's and Alfred Angelo's websites checking out the dresses.  Don't feel bad if you are one of those people who doesn't have the IT moment when trying on dresses. Find a dress that flatters your body and one that you love and you'll look amazing on your wedding day!

Colors
I think colors for a wedding is sometimes like the dress...if you know, you just know. For us we were overwhelmed with venue choices and we had a hard time narrowing down the colors. Be sure to get your husbands involved. Our final colors started clicking when he picked out a tie he loved.  Sometimes they don't love all the little itty bitty details but getting their input on a few big things can help everything fall into place!

Reception
Depending on the Disney Fairytale Wedding Package you purchased, you may or may not have a traditional reception.  There are so many choices when it comes to Disney you can't go wrong. Start out by decided what kind of environment do you want...do you want it small and intimate, do you want something that WOW's everyone, is there a place at Disney that is close to your hear and you'd like to celebrate your marriage there? Between restaurants for small intimate dinners, big ballrooms for more traditional receptions, and in park venues, there really is something for everyone. Keep in mind if you have your colors worked out beforehand, how they will fit in your venue. For us, we choose separate colors for our reception because it fit the venue better. If you can afford it, head down to Disney for a site visit and see everything in person.

Vendors
Planning a destination wedding can be tricky when it comes to vendors. If you can visit Disney prior to the wedding and meet a few of them, that would be ideal.  We met with a few prior to our wedding and I'm so glad I did.  I actually switched my hair/makeup vendor because I was so unhappy with the trial! Check reviews online not only from other Disney brides, but local brides as well.  Find vendors you feel comfortable with.

Details, Details, Details!!
Don't sweat the small stuff!   The small details will fall into place.  There are a lot of decisions t Tao be made when it comes to a Disney wedding and reading online will probably give you more ideas than you know what to do with!  I think that's the great thing about Pinterest...get your ideas all in one place and it will help you narrow them down!  Some of the big stuff is important (food, transportation, etc), while other stuff...like the font that you selected for you custom matchbooks...might not be so important.

The planning process can be a long one, but it's so much fun as well! Take it one day at a time and be as organized as possible. I think there is a lot of pressure to do it "right" because it's your only wedding but have fun with it...it's your day!
